Israel M. Garcia, 83, of Northwood, Ohio passed away on August 1, 2013 at his home. He was born in Rio Hondo, Texas on January 26, 1930 to Antonio and Maria (Martinez) Garcia. Israel was employed by the Oakdale Greenhouse for 27 years and at Mercy St. Charles Hospital for 16 years, retiring in 1995. Israel was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He loved dancing, gardening and especially spending time with his family. Israel also enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and Cancun. Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Magdalena; children, Norma (Ernesto) Ramirez, Noel (Mary) Garcia and Norman (Casie) Garcia; grandchildren, Michael (Melissa) Ramirez, Alex (Eva) Ramirez, Courtney (Lucas) Rowland; 6 great grandchildren siblings, Anita Rodriguez, Ernestina Maya and many other loving family members. Israel was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Noelito and Norberto Garcia, sister, Maria DeJesus Salazar and brother, Ramon Garcia. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road on Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 2-8 p.m with recitation of the rosary at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.
