Jack B. Baumgartner, 93, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born November 22, 1928, to Clifford and Helen Baumgartner. Jack was a graduate of Waite High School, class of 1947. He proudly served his country as a corporal in the United States Army from January 1951-November 1952 and in the United States Army Reserve, being honorably discharged in 1956.
Jack worked in the family business as a Master Plumber (C.C. Baumgartner & Sons Plumbing & Heating), with his father and two brothers (Richard and Bob), retiring in 1995 after 43 years. He married Mary Whitenack on December 20th, 1953, and together they had five children. Jack and Mary enjoyed raising their children, family vacations, and playing cards with friends. Mary preceded Jack in death in September 1973. Jack married Donna Meyer in 1980. They enjoyed spending time at the lake, snowmobiling, and traveling on cruises. Donna preceded Jack in death in July 2004.
Jack's hobbies included bowling, playing cards, and backyard picnics with family and friends. After retiring, he especially enjoyed spending summers at his home on Lake Pleasant in Indiana. After Donna's passing, he cherished the time spent wintering with his siblings at brother Don's home in Ft. Lauderdale, often referring to themselves as the Golden Gang. He enjoyed baking cookies and no Christmas holiday was complete without his world-class chocolate fudge. He especially treasured family time with his grandchildren at his lake home and summer evenings on a sunset cruise on the lake. Jack was a kind man, quick to lend a hand to a neighbor, a thoughtful, loving son and sibling, a caring provider for his family, and a beloved "Grandpa Jack" to seven grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was a very proud 69-year member of the Masonic Rubicon Lodge #237, as well as a member of Zenobia Shriners and Christ Dunberger Post 537. He leaves behind a legacy of service, friendship, and family.
His children wish to thank all of the wonderful caregivers who touched his life, and ours, this past month, at both St. Charles Hospital and at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on Detroit Avenue. Your kindness and wonderful comforting care to both our Dad and his children is so very much appreciated.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, spouses, siblings George, Ruth, Richard, Bob, and Jeanne.
