Jack W. Foster, 78, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2004, in his home. Jack was born in Harbor View on August 6, 1925, to Clarence and Gladys (Stump) Foster. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II. Mr. Foster was employed as a maintenance worker for the City of Oregon until his retirement in 1987. Prior to working for the city he was employed as a bricklayer for several area mason contractors. He was a member of Christ Dunberger American Legion Post #537 and a life member of VFW Post #9816 where he had been a member for 48 years. He also received a certificate of appreciation for his continued involvement in veteran affairs and the Veterans Political Action Committee.
Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Rose; daughters, Carol (Ray) Morelli, Sherry Bernheisel, Jackie Snyder, Rebecca (Randy) Houghtalling; sisters, Betty Schreiber and Peggy (Bob) Staples; seven half brothers and half sisters; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald and Russell, and sister, Patricia.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 5, 2004, from 2 to 9 p.m. in the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH, where funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park. VFW services will be Monday at 7 p.m. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
