Jacob J. Moritz, 81, of Oregon, OH, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2003, in the Medical College Hospital. Jake was born on July 15, 1922 in Curtice, Ohio to Jacob M. and Elizabeth (Ehrsam) Moritz. He retired as a foreman with the Sun Oil Company in 1981 after 40 years. Jacob graduated from Clay High School in 1940 and was a member of their Athletic Hall of Fame. He also was a Naval veteran of WWII, past Elder with First St. John Lutheran Church and a member of Genoa Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Pearl H.; daughters, Cassandra S. Tyler of Toledo, OH and Susan F. (Leonard) Ott of Berlin Heights, OH; sisters, Elizabeth (Daniel) Anderson, Joanne (Jim) Harrell and Phylis Coontz; grandchildren, Jason Chorba, Rachel Tyler, Dennis Ott and Angie Gillespie; great grandchildren, Damien Zientek, Joshua Chorba, Tanner Chorba and Ashley Gillespie. Family and friends may call at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel on Tuesday, October 28, 2003 from 2-9 pm where funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday. Genoa Lodge services will be conducted on Tuesday evening. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to First St. John Lutheran Church.
