James J. Casey, 76, of Oregon, passed away April 27, 2009. He was born April 22, 1933, in Toledo, Ohio, to Joseph and Agnes (Whitaker) Casey. Jim was a shift foreman for Toledo Edison for 35 years before he retired in 1990. He was a big boxing fan and was in the Jr. Golden Gloves. He made the best chili and loved antiques, antique auctions and trains. Jim was a member of the Bavarian Club and worked and helped with the German American Festival. He was a lover of Celtic music and instilled a good work ethic in his children. Jim is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children, Colleen (Jack) Steele, Daniel, James (Cindy), Joseph (Michelle), Michael (Kimberly) and Patrick (Jennifer); step-children, Stanley (Becky) Harris, Mark (Antionette) Harris, Cal (Pam) Harris; grandchildren, Ashley, Amber, Breanne, Brian, Holly, and Jimmy; sisters, Betty (Ken) Porter and Patricia (Baldwin) Thomas; 5 great-grandchildren; special nephew, Bubba, and special friend, Joe Gates. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Ellen; sisters, Mary Sheehy and Kathleen Casey. Visitation will take place on Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home at 440 S. Coy Rd. in Oregon, Ohio. Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. and proceed to St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 212 N. Stadium Rd., for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Lake Township Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Jim's name can be made to the Bavarian Club. James' family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Orchard Villa for their kindness, caring, and compassion.
