James D. Church, 83, passed away March 31, 2010 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. He was born on June 29, 1926 in Independence, Kansas to James and Ethel (Crow) Church. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Air Corps. James worked at Sears for 25 years before retiring in 1985. James was a member of St. Stephen'™s Catholic Church where he was a past President of the Men'™s Club. He was also a member of AARP, the Holy Name Society, American Legion and past Commander of the AMVet'™s Post. Surviving are his son, John; nephews, Robert and Ted Palicz; cousin, Don Carter and life long friends, Don and Kati Shier, Steve and Irene Nagy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha and his parents. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Friday from 6-8 pm where funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 11 am. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
