Obituary

James L. Gallaher, 75, of Oregon, Ohio passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. Jim was born in Lawrenceburg, TN on March 6, 1931, to Lemuel and Minnie (Hughes) Gallaher. He was a Navy Veteran serving as a Medical Corpsman, during the Korean War. He was retired from BP Oil Refinery (Standard Oil) where he was a shift foreman. Jim was a member of First St. John Lutheran Church. He was also a past member of the Chippewa Golf Club and once held the title of club champion. Jim was an avid golfer, fisherman, Ohio State fan and also enjoyed wood carving, carving many wooden ducks and birds. His real love was spending time with his family, going to all his children's and grandchildren's sporting and school events. PawPaw was their biggest fan! Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Nancy (Lanning); children, Kim (Keith) Kwiatkowski, Karen (Don) Holmes; grandchildren, Erin (fianc, Chuck Popovich) and Ashlee Kwiatkowski, Craig and Eric Holmes; sisters, Doris Duffy, Wanda (Fred) Rice, Faye Smith; sisters-in-law, Joyce Gallaher, Barbara Gallaher; brother-in-law, Don Krieg. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Joyce Krieg; brothers, Donald and David Gallaher. Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Thursday from 5-9 p.m. and on Friday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in First St. John Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman Road where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in First St. John Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Jim's memory are asked to consider First St. John Lutheran Church.
