James Carl Intagliata, age 80, of Northwood, Ohio died on Friday, September 17th at ProMedica Bay Park Hospital after contracting the Covid-19 virus (post-vaccination) thereby becoming another statistic in the world-wide pandemic. Jim was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 19, 1941. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Clare E. Intagliata. Jim and Clare were married at Immaculate Conception Church in July of 1962. Furthermore, from their marital union, they had some youngsters: Kent (Linda) [children: Joshua, Gina and Isabella]; Tammi, deceased in August of 1990, Tracy (Trinidad) [children: Jacob and Dominic]. James was preceded in death by his sister Rosemary Grzegorczyk, and is survived by brother-in-law Frank and nephews: Dean, Jimmy and Kenny (KK). James worked for and retired from Medical Mutual of Ohio, formerly Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) as a union benefits negotiator. On some occasions, Jim would speak of a rigid or structured work day, which many times would include field-work out on the golf course. Moreover, although Jim had a rough childhood, he was able to overcome many, many difficult life-obstacles and achieved neat things in his lifetime, to include: being the president of the Placers Car Club and starting and running the local Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) classic car show for 14 years. Jim also became a very well-respect high school and college football official for 25 years, which included some stints refereeing the Toledo Troopers, professional women's football games. Additionally, he was called by many the "voice of the Cardinals" at Cardinal Stritch High School (CSHS). He earned this title by becoming a multi-sports announcer for the catholic institution for 37 years: beginning by announcing boys wrestling, then football games, and finally, boys and girls basketball games. One such story that Jim would often like to tell everyone was that he once call a boys baseball game at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome located in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. Being a great story-teller, Jim loved to regal in the fact that he had been inducted into three Halls' of Fame (HOF): namely, the Toledo Area Athletic Conference (TACC) HOF, and the Cardinal Stritch High School (CSHS) HOF, and in 2012, he was a Mac Morrison award winner under the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) for the Northwest District. Additionally, being that he was a three-time Hall of Famer, Jim loved to boast to friends and family that this accomplishment meant he had an automatic ticket straight to Heaven. Jim's last public calling was to be a Northwood zoning board member for 5 years; he was just recently elect president of the board. Finally, as if there could be a final chapter in this man's life, Jim's hobbies during his lifetime included: rooting for the Green Bay Packers and Norte Dame football team (respectively), camping, body-building, working with tools, being a classic car enthusiast (having owned five different classic cars), volunteering at the Wood County Fair, spoiling grandkids, and probably most importantly, being an all-around advice-giver. On a final note: our hearts will now carry a temporary heavy-burden to get through Jim's passing. Although he and his wife were fully vaccinated, he was exposed to a person with Covid-19, who was not vaccinated, and due to his many underlying health conditions, he contracted a breakthrough covid-pneumonia infection; given the severity of his condition, he could not overcome the many medical challenges his body faced. Furthermore, given that Jim did not want to be on any type of life-enhancing machine, he chose to be in Heaven with his daughter, Tammi, who passed away long ago. As believers in God Almighty, we believe they are now together in the "best place" possible; free from life's pain, suffering and agony. Coy, Oregon, Ohio on Sunday, September 19, from 2:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m., with the saying of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. Mask wearing requested. On Monday, September 20th, at St Jerome Church, located at 300 Warner St, in Walbridge, Ohio, friends and family may say their last goodbyes beginning at 12 noon with 1-hour visitation. Funeral Mass will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Eric Schild as presider. Mask wearing requested.
