Obituary

James A. Mitchell, 59, of Oregon, Ohio succumbed suddenly to cancer on April 18, 2006 in Hospice of NW Ohio, Perrysburg.  He was born on August 14, 1946 to Frank and Mahala (Fisher) Mitchell.  After attending Clay High School, Jim enlisted in the military and was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War.  A U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant, Jim served in the para rescue detachment of the 38th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron flying combat and evacuation missions.  He was an engineer on the CSX Railroad in Walbridge, a journeyman carpenter, contractor, and a truck driver where he was employed at Motor Carrier Services Trucking in Northwood, Ohio.  Jim was a 37 year member of the Maumee and Holland American Legion Posts. Jim was a lover of music, family, nature, trucking and most gregariously, life. He filled our hearts with love and leaves a shattering void.   He is survived by his loving wife, Tonya Howell Mitchell; children Jennifer, a dental tech at Dresch Tolson Dental Lab, Jordan, a specialist in the U.S. Army stationed at Ft. Hood, TX, Kim, Jeff, Shelly and Christie of Millbury, Ohio; brothers, Robert (June), Frank (Elaine) Mitchell; sisters, Helen (Ray) Mitchell Carnes, Jenny Mitchell Pauley and many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents.   Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Saturday, April 22, 2006 from 2-9 p.m. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in James memory are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
