IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James M. "Jim"
Patrilla
October 29, 1949 – February 13, 2023
James M. "Jim" Patrilla, 73 of Millbury, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, February 13, 2023 with his loving family by his side. Jim was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 29, 1949 to Ernest and Cecil (Bennett) Patrilla. He was a 1967 graduate of Waite High School. Upon graduation Jim joined the U.S. Air Force serving his country proudly during the Vietnam War. Jim and his wife Theresa (Okenka) Patrilla were married on November 15th 1969 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church and also a member of the Greater Birmingham VFW Post 4906.
Jim loved fishing for Perch on Lake Erie and took yearly fishing trips to Canada with friends. His love for boating and fishing began as a young boy with his dad. He was a diehard Detroit Tigers fan and loved to listen to the games on the radio. Jim loved to participate and help prepare for the Posts many events such as the annual Lenten Fish Fry's and the Birmingham Hungarian festivals. Growing up in the Birmingham neighborhood he always felt a strong tie to the 'old country of Hungary' where he had created many memories with his life long friends. He enjoyed making Sutni Szalonna (roasting bacon) for family and friends. Jim was a simple man with strong family values. He enjoyed cooking and grilling for his family and never took for granted the simplicity of family time. He never missed a beat when it came to what his family needed. He provided diligently for 30 plus years while working at The Toledo Edison.
Jim had an intelligent dry wit sense of humor that would pop out when you least expected it. He carried his humor with him till his last day; and provided his wife, daughters, grandchildren and his sisters with comfort in his gracious ways of saying goodbye. He will be missed by many as everyone who spoke of him had a kind word and their testimony of his life was followed by "I love you …Dad, Grandpa, Jim, Jimmy, Chim, Jimbo, and Uncle Jim, we will all miss you dearly. He truly treasured the many friends he encountered throughout his life.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 53 years, Theresa, daughters, Megan (Phil) LaFountain, Alison Patrilla, Michelle (Chop) Moser; grandchildren, Trenton, Chase, Jordan, Ashley, Macallister, Nathan, and Lily; sisters, Marcia (Sam) Walling and Bonnie (Phil) Curry; as well as many nieces and nephews.
