Obituary

James Joseph Poad, 92, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away May 7, 2009. Jim graduated from Waite High School in 1935. He served during WWII with the 751st Tank Battalion in England, Northern Africa and Italy. He took part in the landings at Salerno and Anzio. He spent 36 years with the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier. He is survived by his wife Flora; daughter, Roxanna (Steve) Clark; stepdaughters, Peggy Benton, Betty Anne Aring, Mary Jo Waillant and Lucy (Richard) Schwenker; granddaughter, Jennifer (Jason) Williams; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Casey and Cameron; sister, Bernie Meminger; brother, Robert; grandchildren, Jim Vaillant, Joe Aring, and Rebecca Wolfe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Effie; brother, Gilbert; sister, Gladys; and wife, Jean. He was an active member of Faith UM Church. He enjoyed sports, played golf and he belonged to the Faith dart ball team for 45 years. He worked for Meals on Wheels and Helping Hands. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Faith United Methodist Church at 11 am. Memorial contributions in James' name can be made to Faith United Methodist Church.
