James R. Sloan Jr., 67, of Oregon, Ohio passed away October 6, 2008 at St. Charles Mercy Hospital. He was born in Toledo, OH on April 1, 1941 to James R. Sr. and Frances (Corum) Sloan. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After serving in the army he was employed by Libbey Glass. In 1966, Jim began working for Chrysler Toledo Machining Plant, in Perrysburg, where he was employed for 30 years, retiring in 1996. After retirement he worked part time for the Hertz Rental Company. Jim enjoyed golfing, fishing, vacationing in Florida during the winter, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also was an avid Ohio State fan. James was a member of the UAW and of St. John Lutheran Church, Williston, Ohio.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Judith; son, James B. (Joanne); daughter, Julie (Thomas) Jester; sisters, Carol Beard and Janice (Dan) Jones; grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Megan, Matthew, Andrew and Trent; parents-in-law, Harry and Wilma Myers; several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Robert Bell.
Friends and family may visit at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Thursday, October 9, 2008 from 2- 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 1:00 p.m. with interment following in Oakwood Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Jims memory are asked to consider the American Heart Association or St. Johns Lutheran Church, Williston, Ohio.
