James A. Smith, 53, died at his home in St. Augustine, Florida on Sunday, July 24, 2011. He was born October 18, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio to Robert S. and Mildred Smith. Jim had many jobs during his life but had serious health problems the last few years to cope with. He really enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping, anything that was outdoor. He had a soft spot for all kinds of animals, especially his furry friend BobCat. He is survived by his son, David of Maryland; mother, Mildred; brothers, Mike (Roberta), Bob and Tom (Melissa); sisters, Sue Smith and Linda Rock (David); special friend and partner, Jennifer Collins, and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Robert S. Smith, and his grandparents. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or St. Louis Helping Hands. Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
