James A. Steinbeck, 81 yrs., died on Monday, November 29, 2004 in his home after a long illness. He was born in Gallipolis, OH on March 2, 1923 to John and Edythe (Davis) Steinbeck. James was employed as a cabinetmaker by the Ettl Company and Good Displays, retiring in 1984. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. James loved the game of golf and was a former member of Chippewa Golf Course.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lilli (Lillian) and nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.
Visitations will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Thursday from 2-9 p.m. Graveside services and interment will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens, Gallipolis, OH. The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff of Hospice for their loving care.
