James R. "Jim" Stratman, 82, of Oregon, OH, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perrysburg. Jim was born in Covington, KY on April 1, 1925, to William and Margaret (Kruse) Stratman. Jim had retired in 1987 as a foreman from the former Standard Oil Company now BP Refinery where he had worked for 34 years. He was a U.S. Navy and Marine veteran serving his country during WWII. Jim was a member of the Heritage Christian Church, American Legion Dunberger Post, and a previous member of Catholic War Veterans. Jim was also a member of the Toledo Umpire Association for 40 years and was inducted in the Ohio Amateur Softball Association Hall of Honor in 1991. Jim umpired for high school, college and pee-wee baseball and was a member of A.S.A. Bowling Association. Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Ann; daughters, Becky A. (Joe) Hoeflinger, Nancy J. (Frank) Mihalik; grand-children, Patrick (Kristina) Hoeflinger, Stacy (Russell) Sutton, Nathan Hoeflinger, Susan (Jeff) Taylor, Emily Mihalik, David (Kara) Mihalik. Also surviving are 8 great-granddaughters. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Stratman. Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Tuesday from 2-9 p.m. where American Legion Dunberger Post services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Heritage Christian Church, 1640 S. Coy Road, Oregon and where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Jim's memory are asked to consider Heritage Christian Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
