James Douglas Witty, 83 of Williston, Ohio passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with his family by his side. Jim was born in Curtice, Oh on July 11, 1933 to Martin and Alma (Monk) Witty. After graduating from Clay High School in 1952 he entered into the U.S. Army. Jim was a Mill Operator for 38 years prior to retiring from Brush Wellman. He had volunteered for 20 years at Oak Shade Grove and was also a 28 year volunteer fireman with the Allen Twp. Fire Dept. #1. In his spare time Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening, but his greatest passion was spending time with his family. Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Evalyn (Hildebrandt); children Dave (Louise) Witty, Dianne (Ted) Strayer, Denise Waidmann, Jami (Doug) Wyatt; grandchildren, Nichole, Jason, Eric, Andy, Brad, Jacqueline, Shannon, Ryan, Devon, Lauren, Hannah & Ciara; 5 great grandchildren; brothers Don & Gary; sisters in law, Dorothy & Linda. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Carl Vogtsberger; brother, Clyde; sister, Shirley; brothers in law, Jerry, Art, Dennis & Jr.; sister in law, LaVonne. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-8 pm at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, Millbury, where Allen Township Volunteer Fire Department service will be held at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday in St. John's Lutheran Church Williston, 21140 W. Toledo St., Williston at 11:00 am, where the family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Allen Township Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Jim's memory are asked to consider St. John's Lutheran Williston or the Allen Twp. Fire Dept. #1.
