Janet I. Mooney, 82, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. Janet was born on April 15, 1942 in Fremont, Ohio to Claude and Irene (Kokai) Edmonds.

She was a graduate of Fremont Ross High School. On April 7, 1962 she married her best friend, Lawrence Mooney. Janet was a part of the Boy Scouts of America for over 22 years and earned a Silver Beaver Award. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and taking care of her cats. Most of all she treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren. Janet will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Left to forever cherish her memory is her loving husband of 62 years, Larry Mooney; children, Patrick (Jama), Aaron (Kim), and Tom (Beth); 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and daughters-in-law, Cheri and Carey.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Melissa Mooney; brother, Ronald Edmonds; and sister, Patricia Souders.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Mainstreet Church, 5465 Moline-Martin Rd., Walbridge, Ohio 43465. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the ALS Association.
