IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janet Rose
Sehlmeyer
May 20, 1944 – October 19, 2025
Janet Sehlmeyer, 81, of Oregon, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Janet was born on May 20, 1944 to Julius and Frances (Giaimo) Vargo in Toledo, Ohio.
She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and later graduated from Waite High School. On December 2, 1978, she married the love of her life, Dennie Sehlmeyer. A dedicated homemaker, Janet found great joy in caring for her husband, whom she supported with unwavering devotion. Her family often joked that she had Dennie's police uniform so perfectly laid out, right down to the pens in his pockets, that all he had to do was jump into it and head out the door. Her love and care were constant and heartfelt.
Janet enjoyed many hobbies that reflected her creativity and warmth. She had a passion for scrapbooking, loved traveling, especially to Florida and Biloxi, and was well known for her cooking and baking. Her apple pies and pigs in a blanket were family favorites. More than anything, Janet treasured time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and joy. Her loving spirit, gentle presence, and unwavering devotion to family will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Bill (Carla) Scott, Diana (David) Schroeder, Denise Yanez; grandchildren, Bill (Samantha) Scott, Christie (James) Gregg, Joseph (Katie) Materni, Max Schroeder, Mason Schroeder, Josh (Sarah) Sacko, Jami Csendes; great-grandchildren, Rayland, Stella, Carmella, Callie, Harper, Kaiden, Sebastian, Tanner, Wyatt; siblings, Joann (Karl) Katafiasz, Julie Marshall, John (Cyndi) Vargo; and many nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 48 years, Dennie Sehlmeyer; son, Dennie Jr.; granddaughter, Casey Elizabeth, great-granddaughter, Lila; and siblings, Joyce Gainsley, Johnette Marshalko, and Julius Vargo.
The family will greet friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S.
