J.B. Goodwin Sr., 88, of Toledo, Ohio passed away June 20, 2011 at Point Place Care Center. He was born in Haleyville, Alabama to G.W. and Minnie (Head) Goodwin on January 12, 1923. J.B. was employed at Dura Corporation for 32 years retiring in 1983. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. J.B. was a life member at the VFW Post #3265 on Summit St. He was also a member at Old Fashioned Missionary Baptist Church, 515 Euclid Ave. in East Toledo. J. B. loved gardening his 100 tomato plants every summer and then giving them away to family and friends. J.B. was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 42 years, Virginia Lee (Sheline) Goodwin; daughter, baby girl Goodwin; great grandson, Timmy Rhodes; brother, Emmitt (Buddy Goodwin); sisters, Inez, Myrtice and Lillian. Surviving are his children, James (Olga) Goodwin, Judith (Ron Hurst) Rhodes, Barbara (Victor V.) Gonzalez, J.B. Goodwin Jr., Diana (Dan Riley) Polinski, Jessica (Antoine Miller) Goodwin and Virginia Lee Goodwin; sisters, Ruth Riddle, Betty Sue Adkins and Millie Faye; brother, Billy (Virginia) Goodwin; grandchildren, Michael 'œMike' (Carol) Burton, Christopher (Toni) Goodwin, Beatrice, Billy and Tony Negrin, Luber Gonzalez, Jonathon (Ayla), Kenneth, Maryann (Ryan), Timothy (Amanda) Rhodes. Tammy (Mark) Massingill, Ronnie Hurst II, Vincent (Jessica) Gonzalez, Victor (Andrea) Gonzalez, Cam'™ron Goodwin, Miley, Heaven and Antonie Miller; great grandchildren, Judith Gennise, Jennifer, John, Jacob, Ashley, Joshua, Marrisa, David, Kaitlynn, Laura, Racheal, Markie and April Rhodes, Alexzander Gonzalez and Logan Hurst; great great granddaughter, Kayla Rhodes; many nieces and nephews; best friend, Jack Hoffman. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday, June 23, 2011 from 2-9 pm with VFW Services at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the charity of the donor'™s choice.
