Jean Mildred Smith Saunders Knack, formerly of Walbridge, Ohio, passed away at age 90 on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Genoa Retirement Village. Jean was born March 18, 1927 in Curtice, Ohio to Walter Harvey and Mildred Hazel (Drummond) Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Roland Smith; daughter, Deborah Jean Warner; husbands, Charles "Tom" Saunders and Wilfred "Bill" Knack, and special friend Byron F. Kosino. Jean grew up in east Toledo and attended Waite High School; she worked over 50 years in the alfalfa business with Saunders Alfalfa Mills, National Alfalfa and Ohio Blenders. Jean enjoyed her grand and great-grand children, socializing with friends at Put-In-Bay, commodore balls and going to Florida for the winter. She was a member of St Jerome's Church in Walbridge Ohio
She became active in power boating in the late 1960's and was involved in Cooley Canal Yacht Club, Associated Yacht Club and Inter-Lake Yachting Association, and was past recording secretary of the International Order of Satin Gavel.
She is survived by a son, Tommy (Charlene) Saunders; grandsons, Mark (Tammy) Williams, Matthew (Jill) Williams, Thomas Jonathan (Angela) Saunders, granddaughter Michelle (Michael) Perkins; great grandchildren, Brennen Williams, Caleb Williams, Kaiden Williams, Dillon Williams, Madelyn Williams, McKenzie (Hannah Sheahan) Saunders, Grant Saunders, Jake Saunders, Ashton Schneider, Kara Schneider, Garret Perkins, Dane Perkins; great-great grandchild, Sawyer Saunders and son-in law, Michael Warner.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (East of I-280) on Monday, August 7, 2017 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. with Cooley Canal Club services at 6:30 pm. Funeral services will take place in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jerome Catholic Church in Walbridge, Ohio, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the charity of the donor's choice. The family would also like to thank the nurses and staff of Genoa Retirement Village and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
