Obituary

Jeanette Ann (Martin) Cedoz, 89, of Curtice, Ohio, passed away peacefully Thursday January 11, 2024, at Gardens of St Francis in Oregon, Ohio. She was born on October 31, 1934, in Jerusalem Township to Samuel & Sophie (DeRammelaere) Martin. In 1952, Jeanette graduated from Clay High School where she played the accordion, was a drum majorette, and homecoming queen. Jeanette married her high school sweetheart, Ray Cedoz, in 1953 and were married almost 56 years at the time of his passing in 2009. After high school she worked at Tiedtke's, Kelly Services, and as a secretary at Toledo Edison. Jeanette soon became a full-time homemaker and a future farmer's wife. She and Ray were members of the Farm Bureau and enjoyed sharing time with local farmers. Jeanette was the farm wife who helped with everything alongside Ray, from driving tractors and trucks, to filling grain bins, and providing dinner to hungry workers. Jeanette raised and sold rabbits for many years. Jeanette & Ray were active members of the Jerusalem Township Recreation Committee when their children were young. She was a member of St Ignatius Catholic Church and was involved in many ministries over the years including Altar Rosary Society, as a Eucharistic Minister, and funeral lunch volunteer. She enjoyed being in a BUNCO Club with some special ladies for many years. Jeanette was a wonderful cook and taught her daughter and daughters-in-law how to cook. She loved crafting, was an excellent seamstress, and created quilted table runners for family and friends. Jeanette made dresses, shirts, Halloween costumes, prom dresses, flower girl dresses, and was always repairing holes in jeans and jackets. She made cumber buns and bowties for Ray to wear at several of their grandchildren's weddings to coordinate with her dresses. Jeanette loved the outdoors, her yard, garden, canning vegetables and perch dinners at Jolly Rogers in Port Clinton. Jeanette and Ray shared in memorable trips including an Alaskan cruise, trips to Canada & Oklahoma to visit family, Florida, Las Vegas, and Branson. Jeanette loved and appreciated her family, was loved by everyone, and treasured her daily calls with her "sister from the south" Eugenia.

Jeanette is survived by her children Karen Dore, Roger (Cindy) Cedoz, Mike (Brenda) Cedoz, and Steve (Michele) Cedoz; sister Eugenia (Bill) Sherman; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son-in-law, Jim Dore.

Jeanette's family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the wonderful team of caregivers, family and friends who shared their love caring for mom. A special thank you to Julia, Alyssa, Amada Senior Care, Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Ohio Living Hospice. A special thank you also to Dick Gladiuex who faithfully brought her communion every Sunday. She was truly blessed to have the love and support of so many.
