Obituary

Jerline "Jerri" Brooks Kucera age 78 of Oregon, Ohio passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Mercy St. Vincent Hospital. Born in Ewing, Virginia on September 16, 1947 to Julius Franklin and Goldie Crigger Brooks, she moved to Toledo in the early 1960's where she met and married her husband Joseph Kucera on February 1st 1969.

Though she lived most of her adult life in Oregon, she never let go of her Southern roots and Baptist Faith. Her strong faith in God was her motivation. She felt very blest to have a large family and good friends. She enjoyed needlework and reading, though she will be remembered most for her passion, which was being an extraordinary cook and baker.

Jerri was a devoted wife, Mother, and a good friend to many people. Her integrity, compassion, and great sense of humor were recognized by all that knew her. She will be sadly missed for the love she expressed to her family daily, always putting them first and foremost. She loved her trips back to her hometown in Virginia to visit her brothers, sisters and other family members.

Preceding her in death was her beloved son Joseph Kucera Jr., her parents Julius and Goldie Brooks, Ancil Brooks of Middlesboro, Kentucky, Gwen Brooks of Ewing, Virginia, and Barbara Pittman of Rose Hill, Virginia.

Left to mourn her passing is her loving husband of 56 years Joseph Kucera. Two sons Gregory Kucera (Heather Kissel) and Timothy (Krystal) Kucera of Toledo. Three brothers, Charles Brooks of Halifax, Virginia, Larry Brooks of Ewing, Virginia, Edward Brooks of Harrogate, Tennessee. Two sisters, Louise Caldwell of Ewing, Virginia, Joyce Brooks-Wichman of Middlesboro, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.

Friends and family may visit, Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon, Ohio 43616 on Saturday, April 25, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 4:00 p.m. Visitation and services will be held at a date to be announced due to illness. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Jerri's memory are asked to consider a charitable donation to: The Toledo Humane Society of Northwest Ohio; Little Sisters of the Poor, or The Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio.
