Jerry W. Smith, 78, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at his home. Jerry was born on September 6, 1946 in Middlesboro, KY to Grant and Mary (Moore) Smith.

Jerry Smith, a beloved husband, father, and friend, lived a life marked by love, laughter, and dedicated service. He cherished time with his loved ones, always finding joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether it was watching wrestling, playing Bingo, or sharing stories with those closest to him. Above all, Jerry was most proud of having served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life he held with great pride. His unwavering spirit, sense of humor, and deep commitment to his country and family will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Surviving is his loving wife of 54 years, Nancy Smith; daughters, Teresa and Jessica; grandchildren, Chelsea, Antonio, Tylor, Devin, Jesse, Daniel, Destiny, Victoria, Elizabeth, Ciara; two great-grandchildren, Zayden Wayne and Jay Shawn; and special niece, Kim.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Mary & Grant Smith; son, Howard Smith; and sister, Sherrie Sue.

The family will receive friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd Oregon, Ohio 43616, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Jerry's memory are asked to consider the Wounded Warriors Project.
