Jessie Genet Myers, 85, of East Toledo, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 19, 2007at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg after a brief illness. Jessie was born August 12, 1922, in Cheektowaga, New York to John and Aliza "Ruth" McCabe (nee Morris). Jessie married the late Robert William Myers, September 29, 1950 at Camp Pendleton, California. Jessie enjoyed going to casinos and bringing her family together hosting 54 consecutive Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations. She made many close friends as an active member of the Northwood Post VFW 2984 Ladies Auxiliary, the East Toledo Senior Center and the St. Charles Fitness Center where she liked to swim. Jessie showed love for others throughout her life, nursing and comforting ailing friends and relatives and welcoming others into her home as family. Jessie is survived by her sister June Buchholz; her five children Emilie "Amy" Crawford, Robert (Nancy) Strack, Carol (Thomas) Sullivan, Karen Kelley and Michael (Cindy) Myers; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and close friends. Jessie is also preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Ruth Weil, husband Bob, brother John (Doris "Dodie") Weil, brother-in-law Charles Buchholz and son-in-law, Charles Hurd. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon, OH 43616 on Monday, October 22, 2007, from 2-9 pm with VFW Ladies Auxiliary services at 7 pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 10:30 am at the funeral home with interment following in Lake Township Cemetery.
