Joan Imhoff Shanteau, 75, of Oregon, OH, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 7, 2007. Joan was born in Washington, DC, to Michael and Zina (Kutz) Roscoe on March 19, 1932. Joan was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, Friends of the Library, North Cape Yacht Club, Parkview Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Genealo gy by Computer Society of Toledo, and Toledo Area Genealogical Society. She also was a long-time volunteer at Parkview Hospital, St.Vincent Medical Center, and St. Charles Hospital. Joan was raised and educated in Washington, DC, McKees Rocks, PA, and Chicago, IL, moving the Oregon, OH, in 1956. She enjoyed travel, reading, knitting, ballroom dancing, genealogy, pets, root beer, and, of co urse, ice cream. Joan was a registered nurse and worked with her first husband, Dr. David E. Imhoff for 34 years. He preceded her in death in 1988.

Surviving are her husband of 16 years, Carl Shanteau of Oregon, OH; daughter, Judi Imhoff (Carol) of Oregon, OH; sons, Eugene (Joanna) of Washington, DC and Princeton, NJ, and Lawrence Imhoff of Holmes Beach, FL; daughter-in-law Polly Imhoff; siblings, Madeline Isaacs, Peter, Richard, and Michael Roscoe; grandchildren, David Crosby Imhoff and Josselyn Joan Imhoff; step-children Leslie (Kathy), David (Madeleine) and Philip (Darlene) Shanteau; and cat Hershey.
Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m. Funeral services, followed by a reception, will be conducted on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 5757 Starr Avenue, in Oregon. Interment at Toledo Memorial Park will be private.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Orchard Villa and Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Special heartfelt thanks is due to Barb for her special touch and to Joan's confidante and "Angel in Scrubs" Ammie.
