Joanne M. (Herron) Campbell 82, of Genoa , Ohio , passed away on Monday, October 24, 2016, at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family, after an 11 month battle with breast cancer. Joanne was born to John and Hester (Roach) Gerity in Toledo , Ohio on June 5, 1934. Joanne's father passed away when she was 6 months old and at the age of 5 Joanne was adopted by William P. Herron. Joanne was in the band and a majorette at Waite High School and graduated in 1952. Joanne married John I. Campbell on July 19, 1952, and they celebrated 54 years of marriage until his passing in 2006.
Joanne was able to stay at home while raising her family and she was always active in the communities where she lived. She was involved with the East Toledo Mother's Club, Eastside Neighborhood House, Oakdale School PTA, Genoa Civic Theatre, ESONI Club and Genoa Federation of Clubs.
Joanne was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Genoa where she was involved with woman's fellowship and worked as a secretary for many years. She also worked with her husband at C-R Trailer & Body Works, a business they owned until 1997.
Joanne is survived by her children, Kim (Kevin) Youster, Northwood, Steven (Karen), Genoa , Rick (Anne), Holland , daughter-in-law, Kathy Campbell, Perrysburg, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, with one on the way and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, son, J. Scott, parents and sister, Dorothy Kolby.
Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1213 Washington Street, Genoa, Ohio 43430 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Toledo Memorial Park following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or St. John's United Church of Christ, Genoa .
The family wishes to express deep appreciation to Mom's sister-in-law, Janet Campbell, who sent her a card each week during her illness, her friends for their cards, letters and prayers, the kitchen staff at St. Clare Commons for watching over Mom and Hospice nurses Kristie and Stephanie for their kind care and concern during Mom's illness.
