Joanne M.(Mays) Diehl, 75, of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 in her home. Joanne was born on May 2, 1928 in Toledo to James and Carrie (Fehlhaber) Covill, who preceded her in death. Joanne was a graduate of Waite High School and was employed as a merchandise clerk at the former downtown LaSalles before her retirement. She was a member of Memorial United Church of Christ and was active in the Clown Ministry at Salem Church.
Surviving are her loving husband, Harry E. Diehl; children, Janet (Jim) Davis of Oregon, Linda (William) Plummer of Perrysburg, and Dianne (Michael) Shrum of Red Oak, Texas; stepchildren, Larry Diehl of Decatur, GA, Cynthia (Robert) Lindeman of Troy, OH, and Jon (Margaret) Diehl of Sylvania; sister, Mary (Don) Humbarger of Winter Springs, FL; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was, also, preceded in death by her first husband, Franklin Mays; brother, Robert Covill; sisters, Lucille Fizer and Ruth Hartz.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:30 am in the Eggleston-Meinert Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon where visitation will be held on Thursday from 2 to 9 pm. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, OH. Memorial contributions in Joanne's memory can be made to Memorial United Church of Christ or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
