Joanne I. Nitz, 79, of Toledo, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2009 in Foundation Park Care Center. Joanne was born in Toledo on July 27, 1929, to Walter and Hazel (Collier) Christopher. Mrs. Nitz was employed for 22 years as a bus driver and dispatcher for the Toledo Public Schools before her retirement in 1991. She was a past member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She and her husband lived for many years in Moran, Michigan and was a member of the Northern Michigan Episcopal Women. Joanne was also a faithful blood donor and a big supporter of the Red Cross. Surviving are her loving husband, Carl; daughters, Carolyn (Leo) Schnapp and Mary Nitz; sons, Christopher and John Nitz; brother, George (Rose) Christopher and grandchild, Joshua Schnapp. Memorial services will be conducted on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, Millbury. There will be no visitation and interment will be private. Memorial contributions in Joanne's memory may be made to the Altzheimer's Association or the American Red Cross. w
