Obituary

Joanne M. Parks, 91 of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017 in St. Lukes Hospital. Joanne was born in Toledo on February 5, 1926 to Dale and Abbie (Neil) Sipe. She was a 1944 graduate of Waite High School and worked for Krogers for 29 years before her retirement in 1989. Mrs. Parks was a longtime member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, where her family attended. She was a member of several organizations and a 70-year member of the Lotus Lodge Order of Eastern Stars, Chapter 477. She was the widow of the love of her life, Anscile "Ray" Parks who she met roller skating at Forest Park. Ray preceded her in death in 1991. She was especially proud of her Christmas tree filled with picture ornaments of all her "Babies. As the mother of three girls, and being an excellent seamstress, she was most proud of the many prom dresses she made, and especially proud and honored to make all three of her girls' wedding dresses. She was the last of the Mason Street "Moms", where all the neighbor kids felt loved and protected. Many knew her as a great cook, and she will be remembered as the "Queen" of jello salads, as they were her forte. She always had time for her family and they were her life. She was exceptionally proud of her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren made her smile. From her family, this is not goodbye but "See ya later alligator, After while, crocodile." Joanne is survived by the daughters, Carolann (Roland) Rittner, Sandra Donahue, Barbara Hieber; adopted son, Robert (Deborah) Weaver; grandchildren, Scott (Nicole) Rittner, Mark Roland (Jaci) Rittner, Toby (Laura) Rittner, Brian (Buffey) Hieber, Kevin (Jody) Hieber, Jeanette (Glen) Osgoodby, Melissa (Richard) Cosgriff and 16 great grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were her parents, her two sisters, her twin, June DeLauter, and Nelle Larson. Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Sunday, November 26, 2017 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. Those wishing an expression of sympathy in Joanne's memory are asked to consider Eastminster Presbyterian Church or the charity of the donor's choice. The family wishes to thank Jeff Wagner, Billy & Carolyn Dutton and the staff at Otterbein Perrysburg for the loving care they gave Joanne.
