John M. Drain, 68, of Genoa, OH passed away on Friday, August 1, 2008 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.  He was born on August 19, 1939 to Maxwell and Corabell Cook who preceded him in death.John was a merchant marine on the Great Lakes by trade; he was a free spirit who loved to expand his intellect in many ways, especially his art. He would discuss politics for hours, but was just as content to read a good book. He had a soft spot for animals and would come to adopt many.He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his children, Jean (James) Brescol of Temperance, MI,  David Drain of Chalmette, LA , Charlie (Kathie) Drain of Northwood, OH and Eric (Carla) Drain of Mustang, Oklahoma. Also, his brothers and sisters, Paul Drain, Dan Drain, Mary (Larry) Wise, Helen Budd, Roger (Karen) Drain, and Martin Drain.  John also had ten Grandchildren and seven Great-grand children. He is also survived by his companion, Linda Cherry who loved him and took wonderful care of him during his illness.John graciously donated his body to the University of Toledo Medical Center, as he wished. A memorial service will be conducted at 7 pm on Thursday August 7, 2008 at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel 1111 Woodville Rd. Millbury, OH where the family will greet friends after 5 pm.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
