John E. Blair, 70, of Northwood, Oh, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2004, in his home surrounded by his family. John was born in Toledo on November 7, 1933, to James and Goldie (Stewart) Blair. John retired from the United States Navy after 23 years of service and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was also employed by General Electric for 14 years, serving as manager of the service shop. John was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend. He gave selflessly of himself and his time and will be missed by all whose lives he touched. John was a member of St. Jerome Church and the Knights of Columbus. John also served as a eucharistic minister at St. Jerome and spent many hours volunteering at St. Charles Mercy Hospital and at both St. Jerome Church and School.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Lois, children, Patty (Terry) Stacey, Debbie (Jeff) Smith, Jim (Bonnie) Blair, Sandy (Ken) Miner, Cindy (Jason) Zilles; grandchildren, Michele, Jason, Heather, Missy, Jennifer, John, Kristin, Katlyn, Jay and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Destiny; mother-in-law, Frances Koenig. He was preceeded in death by his brothers, Orville, Harold, Howard Blair; sisters, Lucille, Lovetta, Hazel and Anna Jane.
Friends may call in the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio, where visitation will be Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. and proceed to St. Jerome Church for the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00 a.m. Knights of Columbus services will be Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be in Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in John's memory may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or either St. Jerome Church or St. Jerome School. The family would like to extend a special thanks to everyone at Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Dr. Christopher Bates for their loving care.
