John A. Gears, Jr., 71, of Toledo, passed away on May 22, 2011 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. He was born in Nelsonville, Ohio on November 26, 1939 to John Sr. and Ada (Matheny) Gears. John worked as an assembler for Dana Corporation for 34 years before retiring in 1994. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Frances; children, John (Beth) Gears, Linda Myrice, Janet (Raul) Quiroga Jr., Jerry (Marsha) Gears, David Gears; brothers, Jeff (Linda), Jerry 'œBuck', Jay David, Dan (Judy) Gears; sister, Jane Kay Wagner; grandchildren, Danny Myrice, Tyler Gears, Jordan Myrice, Kirk Gears, Haley Gears, Cody Myrice, Erica Gears, Raul 'œTrey' Quiroga III. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack, Joe and Jim; sisters, Judy Thomas and Patsy Gears. Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel on Thursday, May 26, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
