John "Larry" Lawson, 55, of Walbridge, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2007, in the Cleveland Clinic. John was born in Williamsburg, Kentucky on July 28, 1952, to Jimmie and Norma "Dean" (Peace) Lawson. Mr. Lawson was a US Navy veteran. John was a registered nurse and had served as director of Nursing for the Goerlich Center at Flower Hospital. John enjoyed camping, fishing and golfing. He also played for the East Toledo Family Center softball team, but his special love was playing the guitar and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are his loving wife, Gloria; son, Chris (Jennifer) Lawson; daughters, Jenny Lawson, Becky (Treg) Lawson; stepchildren, Don (Lynn) Coburn, Todd Coburn; brothers, Ed (Cathy), Dick (Sharon) and Jerry (Robin) Lawson; sisters, Barb (George) May, Debbie Moyer; grandchildren, Drew Anderson, Kendyl Rose Coburn, Darren Coburn, Jade Marie Coburn, Donte Coburn, Drew Getzinger, Haley Kay Getzinger, Ben Lawson, Hannah Brubaker and many nieces and nephews. John will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-9 p.m. at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in the Christ United Methodist Church, 5757 Starr Avenue Extension where visitation will begin at 1:00 until the beginning of the service. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions in John's memory may be made to either the Kidney Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice.
