John E. Lehmann, 70, of Williston, OH passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 10, 2005, in Christus Spohn Hospital, Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on November 7, 1934, in Toledo, Ohio, to Howard and Arvilla (Everett) Lehmann. He graduated from Clay High School in 1952 and was a member of the National Guard from 1958-63. John was employed for 40 years with Seaway Foodtown, first as a bagger and then meatcutter, before retiring as a district manager in 1994. He worked part time with Helena Chemical (formerly WW Applicators) for 8 years after retirement. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Williston, OH and the Cooley Canal Yacht Club where he was past commodore in 1981. John also was past commodore of AYC, member of the Genoa Masonic Lodge, Oak Harbor Chapter #162 and Moose Lodge #1610 in Port Clinton, OH. He was active with the Allen Township Fire Department for 37 years and served as the master of ceremonies for their annual Feather Party. John enjoyed his winters in Texas and loved gardening, boating, fishing, cruising and spending time with family and friends. He and wife Naomi recently celebrated 50 years of marriage with a family cruise.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Naomi; daughter, Karen (Robert) LaRey of Houston, TX and grandchildren, Jennifer and Jessica.
Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, Millbury, OH, on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-9 p.m. Allen Township Fire Department will conduct a service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, with Cooley Canal Yacht Club services to follow at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, in St. John Lutheran Church, Williston, OH with interment to follow at Allen Township Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in John's memory are asked to consider St. John Lutheran Church, Allen Clay Joint Fire District #1 or the charity of the donor's choice.
