John M. McGeorge, 78, of Millbury, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Thursday, March 1, 2018. John was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 16, 1939 to Robert and Margaret (Rummel) McGeorge Sr. He attended Clay High School and graduated in 1959. Shortly after he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country. On November 10, 1962 he married the love of his life, Bonnie (Gibson). John worked for BP as a pipe fitter for 33 years before retiring in 1999. He was a Pee Wee Football coach in the 70's and also became a referee thereafter. He enjoyed spending his time at his cottage in Coldwater, Michigan, fishing and golfing. John was a huge Ohio State Buckeyes fan. His greatest pride was his family, especially his grandchildren. He was always their #1 fan no matter what school they attended. John had a special place in many hearts and will surely be missed by all who knew him. John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bonnie; children, Gerald (Georgia) McGeorge, Thomas (Carol) McGeorge; grandchildren, Anthony, Cody, Caleb McGeorge, Angela (Brandon) Henninger, Faith (Luke) Sutter, Brittany (Blake Traver) McGeorge; great-grandchildren, Braydon Henninger and one on the way; brother, Dennis (Brenda) McGeorge; sister, Marilyn (Charles) Walker; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Robert, David and Doug. The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280) on Monday, March 5, 2018 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The family will also greet friends on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, 26535 Pemberville Rd. Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Elliston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be directed to Genoa Athletic Boosters or American Heart Association.
