John R. Pastorek, DDS, 76, of Oregon, Ohio passed away peacefully in his home on June 2, 2017. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 27, 1940 to John E. and Mary (Palenchar) Pastorek. Doc was a member of the first graduating class at St. Francis de Sales High School in 1958. He continued his education with degrees from John Carroll University and the University of Detroit Dental School. Doc served the Oregon community through his dental practice for over 28 years before retiring in 1994. He was a member of and served on the boards of the Toledo Dental Association and the St. Francis de Sales Alumni Organization. Doc was never found far from the water. He designed and built his family's dream home on Lake Erie. He was an avid fisherman and boater, Commodore of the DESYC, and enjoyed winters in the Florida Keys with his wife for 23 years. During retirement Doc earned his Master Captain's license. Doc had a passion for hunting and enjoyed an African safari trip in 1970. His many interests included a love for John Deere tractors and investing in real estate. Doc was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Nothing gave Doc more pleasure than spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren who affectionately called him "Grampy Doc."
John is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Patricia; children Kara (Mark Ahern) Pastorek and Barant (Amber) Pastorek; grandchildren, Blake and Kalyn Pastorek; sister, Patricia (Charles) Jacklitch; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill (Barbara), Mike (Tammy), Tom (Valeria) Dudley; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Thursday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 212 N. Stadium Rd., Oregon, Ohio at 11:00 a.m. where the family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Those wishing an expression of sympathy in John's name are asked to consider St. Francis de Sales High School or St. Ignatius Catholic Church
