IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John P.
Schwegler
November 13, 1936 – January 21, 2026
John P. Schwegler, 89, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. He was born in Zurich, Switzerland on November 13, 1936 to Paul and Marie (Kurt) Schwegler. After graduating from Zurich High School, John proudly served in the Swiss Army for 3 years. After his service, he moved to the United States, and joined the United States Army, and proudly served for 3 more years and achieved his U.S. citizenship. On May 28, 1966 he married the love of his life, Carol (Nelson) and they spent 59 wonderful years together. John worked for Ford Motor Company as a machine repairman for 30 years. While he was a young man in Switzerland, he enjoyed playing water polo and also swam internationally in his early adulthood. John was a big car enthusiast going to many car shows over the years. If you wanted to get a hold of John your best bet would be to check Pearson Park's walking path as he made sure to get his miles in 7 days a week, most likely with his best 4-legged friend "Luke" the lab. He loved nature and everything about it. He was a strong-willed man that took great pride in providing for his family, which is his most prized possession.
John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol; children: Jeffrey (Paula) Schwegler, James Schwegler, Jill Schwegler; and grandchildren: Jordan and Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Max Schwegler.
