A husband, father, and son who did the best he could for all who knew and loved him. He was born March 8, 1919 to Franklin and Adeline (Flack) Snyder. Married to Elnora Betty D. (Bucey) Snyder, whom he loved for 48 years before she preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother, Wayne (Bev) Snyder and was a loving father to Shelby E. Snyder-Hines, Constance J. (Don) Sahadi, and Michael D. Snyder. He was grandfather of six and great grandfather to three. John served in the CCC's in '36 and '37 at Versailles, IN and Eaton, OH. Until recently he was active in both the VFW and American Legion. He served in WW II under Gen. Patton. Entering the war at D-Day +6 and he was in transit to the Pacific Theater of Operations when the war ended when he was discharged. He was honored with 3 Bronze Stars and numerous battle awards including the Battle of the Bulge. Ed was retired from the City of Toledo. He also worked as a railroad blacksmith, aircraft assembler, and beer truck driver. His love and caring is best exemplified by his actions for which he was shy in telling. Like all from that era, he was very aware of what he was doing when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, he was in route from picking up his wife's nieces and nephews from an orphanage in Stuebenville, OH. He only spoke of the war when pressed or how he earned one of his Bronze Stars retrieving two wounded comrades from the front lines. He always treated family first, caring for all as best he could with all the tools he had. Dad, thank you from a grateful country and loving family. We will miss you. There will be no visitation and a memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank Visiting Nurse Hospice and Healthcare and a very special thank you to Anna D. and Nurse Jill for their care and service.
