Joseph W. Babiuch, 88, of Toledo, OH passed away on June 3, 2003 at Bayside Commons of Oregon surrounded by members of his family. He was born December 31, 1914 to Walter and Anna (Huba) Babiuch in Toledo, Ohio. Joseph was raised by Julia (Kupiec) Babiuch after his mother passed away in 1919. He was employed by Sun Oil Company as a administrative/engineering clerk for 40 years, retiring in 1978. Joe was a member of Sacred Heart Parish although for the past few years he worshiped with his family at St. Mark Lutheran Church.
Joe was an avid and accomplished golfer. He was introduced to the game as a youth when he was employed by the Inverness Club, starting out as a caddie. He later became a longtime member or the Valleywood Country Club, winning the club championship in 1959. He recorded three holes-in-ones during his lifetime.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy V. (Luebben) Babiuch; children, Sandra (Robert) Connolly, Gregory Babiuch, Michael (Patricia) Babiuch, Rosanne Babiuch, Thomas (Cheryl) Babiuch, Margaret (Michael) Isenberg; sisters, Catherine Paluszak and Sister Mary Medard; 11 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, son, Patrick, sister, Anne Pickering and grandson, Robert Connolly.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 6, 2003 from 2-9 p.m. at the Eggleston-Meinert Funeral Home Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon where funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Forth Meigs Cemetery. Contributions in Joseph's memory can be made to Heartland Hospice or St. Mark Lutheran Church.
