Joseph C. LaPlant, 97, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully Monday, July 18, 2022. Joe was born August 3, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio to Clement and Floy Mary (Russell) LaPlant. In 1942 he graduated from Waite High School. Joe loved his profession as a sheet metal worker for over 40 years and was a 76 year member of Local 6 & Local 33 Sheet Metal Workers Unions. He took great pride in working on intricate and simple projects for family and friends as a skilled craftsman and stained glass artist. Joe was a longtime member of Epiphany of the Lord Parish – St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and hand crafted many displays for the annual parish festival. His hobbies included: gardening, fishing, trap & skeet shooting, and struggling with bowling and golf. He was a dedicated fan of The Ohio States Buckeyes, Detroit Tigers, and University of Toledo Rockets. Joe is survived by his children, Bev(Jeff) Cowell, Sue (Bill) Falkenberg, and Jan LaPlant; grandchildren, Tony Cowell, Stacy (Jerid) Donley, and Allyson (Jake Osten) Falkenberg; great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Kimberly, Christina, Jacob, and Jackson; along with many nieces, nephews, loving family members. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; brothers, Paul and Dave; and sisters, Mary and Catherine. The family will receive friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S., Coy Road Friday, July 22, 2022 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 10:00 (meet at church) at Epiphany of the Lord Parish – St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 729 White Street, Toledo.
