Obituary

Joseph "Louie" Molnar, 90, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 29, 1933 to John and Julia Molnar. He graduated from Macomber High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force. On August 31, 1957 he married the love of his life, Betty (Bartha). Louie worked as an electrician for GM Powertrain for 30 years before retiring. Prior to that, he worked at the Toledo Shipyard and the Hostess Bakery. He and his wife loved going dancing, especially to polkas. Louie was artistic and creative and he often could be found crafting and designing different projects ranging from a giant animated Frankenstein to elaborate model airplanes. Some of these house-sized structures had lights and moving parts, and the Molnar house always attracted much attention during Halloween season! Louie also had a passion for home improvement work and spent many hours helping his children with projects including electrical wiring, plumbing, and carpentry. What he cherished most was spending time with his loving family who will miss him dearly.

Louie is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty; daughter, Connie (David Saygers) Molnar; son, Robert (Courtney) Molnar; grandchildren, William and Leo; and sister, Ida Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, George, Steve; and sister, Barbara.

The family would like to thank Parkcliffe Memory Care Community of Northwood and Elara Caring Hospice for providing comfort and care to Louie in his final days.

The family will receive friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Expressions of sympathy in Louie's name may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Epiphany of the Lord Parish, St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Oregon.
