Joseph Slivinski Sr., 78, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 13, 1947 to John and Lola (Kovacs) Slivinski. After graduating from Waite High School Joe enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country. After his service he worked at Toledo Edison and Davis Besse as an Electrical Engineer. Joe also On November 20, 1990 he married Janet Routson. Joe had a big heart, always wanting to help others. He was a little quirky but also quite the jokester. He was a loving husband, grandfather and father. Joe loved golfing, and spending time with his friends and family. Joe and Janet lived down in Florida for several years where he worked at Progress Energy. One thing was for certain with Joe, his loyalty to his friends and family was of the upmost importance to him.

Joe is survived by his wife, Janet; step-children, Michael (Andrea Brown) Sullivan, Jennifer Baker; grandchildren, Michael and Julia; step-grandchildren, Michael and Kiersten; and sister, Marlene. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joe Jr.; brother, Michael; and brother-in-law, Julius.

The family will greet friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Homes, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon, Ohio, 43616 on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to the American Cancer Society.
