Joseph Zargo, age 84 of Oregon, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Joe was born January 15th, 1940, the youngest child of Joe and Margaret Zargo of Toledo.

Joe graduated in 1958 from Central Catholic High School in Toledo. Upon graduation, Joe began working for over 60 years as a Sheet Metal Worker, Local 33 (originally Local 6). Joe was also co-owner of J & J Heating for many years and in his retirement also worked for Ondrus Hardware.

Joe was a big sports enthusiast, an avid and loyal fan of Ohio State Football and the Detroit Lions. Joe was a long-time coach for the Jerusalem Township Boys Baseball league and coach for the over 40 Oregon ladies' softball league.

Favorite past times (spent with too many friends to list) included snowmobiling in Michigan, boating on Lake Erie, restoring classic Cars (his pride and joy was his 1956 Chevy), Florida trips and travel with family and friends and more recently spending afternoons at the VFW Post 4906 with those who will all miss his wonderful company.

Surviving Joe is the love of his life, wife Judy of over 64 years, children, Joe Zargo; Jacqueline (Todd) Burkhardt; Jennifer (Keith) Thorbahn; Lori (Dennis) Pepper; Grandchildren: William (Krystin) Berry; Nick Thorbahn; Jacob Veitch; Joshua Veitch; Jill Thorbahn; JJ Thorbahn; Daniel (Katie) Murray; Theresa Burkhardt. Great Grandchildren, Porter Murray, Bridget Berry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in-law Lester and Helen Christian, sister Marge (Bill and Jean) Morgenstern, sister Toot (Bud) Morgenstern, grandson Joseph Veitch, brother-in-law Daniel Christian, brother-in-law Richard Lester and nephew Tim Morgenstern.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd. Oregon, where his funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan.7, 2025 at 10:30 am. interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery.
