Joseph 'œJoe' S. Zsigrai
Joseph S. Zsigrai, 84, of Oregon, Ohio passed away September 27, 2010 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 5, 1926 to Joseph L. and Anna (Alexo) Zsigrai. Joe was a veteran of the U.S. army, serving during World War II. He had been employed as a longshoreman at the C&O Docks for 33 years, retiring in 1991. Joe was a retired volunteer fireman at Oregon Fire Station #1 and a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. He was an avid bowler and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren on family vacations. Joe was a winter person and lived for snow and the Christmas Season with his family.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Marian E.; children, Maurine (Eric) Weis, Marilyn Vieth and Jeff Zsigrai; grandchildren, Joshua Vieth, Megan (Greg) Pollauf, Lindsey (Matt) Wagner, Tony Weis, Marty Vieth, Eric Weis, Brian Weis, Jeffery Zsigrai and Hattie Zsigrai; great granddaughter, Dylanie Pollauf; sister-in-law, Joan Zsigrai and niece, Cynthia (Scott) Liber. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Zsigrai.
Friends may visit at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday, September 30, 2010 from 2-9 p.m. with a Fireman'™s Memorial Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be begin in the funeral home on Friday at 10:15 a.m. and proceed to St. Ignatius Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Joe'™s memory can be made to St. Ignatius Church, the Oregon Fire Department Station #1, the Bay Park Community Hospital Foundation, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family extends special thanks to the nursing staff and doctors at Bay Park Community Hospital and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their loving care and compassion.
