Joyce Elaine Martin, 70, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. Joyce was born June 18, 1953, in Toledo, Ohio to Floyd and Marie (Tolles) Koester. In 1971, Joyce graduated from Clay High School and furthered her education at Owens Technical College. On December 7, 1985, she married the love of her life, Daniel Martin. For many years, Joyce welcomed patients and their families to the office of Dr. Stephen Branam D.D.S., retiring in 2011. Joyce was proud of her German heritage and traced her family's genealogy back over 500 years. Joyce was privileged to have recorded stories of her family lineage from multiple generations of her family. An avid nature lover, Joyce enjoyed bird watching and looking for deer. No trip to Pearson Park, Crane Creek, or the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge was complete without a stop for ice cream! She was an active member of St. Mark Lutheran Church where she volunteered countless hours to the neighborhood ministry program. Joyce's greatest love was cooking for & caring for her family.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 37 years, Dan; daughter, Jean (Ryan) Jones; son, Patrick (Jen) Martin; grandchildren, Stella, Caroline, Jason, and Maggie; siblings, Jim (Sandy) Koester, Bob (Sharon) Koester, and Donna Koester; along with many nieces, nephews, loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister, Jean.

The family will receive friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road Wednesday, August 2, 2023, from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral services 11:00 am Thursday, August 3, 2023, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 611 Woodville Road, Toledo, where the family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 am. Interment: Willow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Ovarian Cancer Connection or the Autism Alliance of Michigan. Joyce's family wishes to thank her numerous caregivers for their gracious care of Joyce during her illness.
