Obituary

Judie Askins, 67, passed away on November 27, 2013 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. She was born on October 1, 1946 to Paul and Violet (Rudy) Rapp. Judie D. Askins was a mother of 5 children to whom she dedicated her heart and soul until the very end. Anyone who met her knew she had a strong sense of self and opinions to match. She encouraged everyone whose life she touched to follow their dreams and achieve their full potential; never believing that someone'™s condition should allow them to be held back. Her strong convictions led her to support causes in which she strongly believed, most notably dedicating over 30 years as a probation officer managing the most challenging cases. In 2000, she was recognized as the Most Notable Women by the American Institute of the United States. Throughout her life, Judie was guided by her passions. As an avid animal lover, she generously supported the Humane Society and opened her heart and home to her beloved pets. Her love of learning led her to pursue a greater understanding of astrology; she developed such skill in her practice, she was able to use that knowledge to help others. Her enthusiasm inspired everyone to find their passion. Judie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Richard J. Askins Sr and her dog, Chi Chi. Survived by Phoenicia (Terry) Klostermeier, Candius (Tony) Agby, Richard Askins Jr., Kish-La Askins, and Shawnee Askins. Her grandchildren, Kami Askins, Anthony Agby, Karisa Bixler, and Ginger Agby. Her great-grandchild, Aubrey Schaller. Her dog, Angelo. Her mother, Violet Compton; sister, Carol Poiry; brother, Paul Rapp. Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon on Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place in the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Fort Meigs Cemetery. Those wishing an expression of sympathy in Judie'™s name are asked to consider the Humane Society of the United States.
