Judith Anne Flatter Kane, 72, of Grand Junction, Colorado, and formerly of Ohio, passed away peacefully in her residence on Saturday, August 7, 2004. Judith was born on March 26, 1932, to Martin and Henrietta (Hirtzel) Flatter. She was a graduate of Catawba College in North Carolina with a double major of biology and chemistry. Judith was the first woman to work in the Sun Oil laboratory. She then went on to cancer research at the University of Florida. The last 21 years of work were as a social worker for the City of Richmond. She was active in the Lakeside Lioness Club, in Richmond Virginia, serving as president four times.
Judith is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Jean Du Val Kane; son, Elisha Kane of Grand Junction, CO; daughter, Aletris Kane of Cockeysville, MD; mother, Henrietta Flatter of Boynton Beach, FL; brother, Phillip Flatter of Augsburg, Germany, and 6 grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Woodville Road Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, Millbury, Ohio, on Tuesday, August 17, from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. and where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service in St. Peter United Church of Christ, 1459 Main Street, Millbury. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery.
