Julia A. Nagy passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005, at the Heartland of Perrysburg Nursing Home. Julia was on January 31, 1912, on Magyar Street in East Toledo. She and her parents returned to Hungary when she was 18 months old. During their visit World War I was declared resulting in their detainment. The family then remained in Hungary.
Julia spent her 18th birthday on board a ship crossing the Atlantic to the United States. Subsequently she met and married Frank Nagy. They settled on Valentine Street in the Birmingham area of East Toledo where they raised a family. Frank preceded her in death in 1991.
Julia was a member of Calvin United Church of Christ. She took pride in her garden and was well known for her Hungarian pastries.
Surviving is her son, Frank John (Ruth) of Perrysburg, Ohio, and her daughter, Julie (Edward) Mauk of Landstuhl, Germany; grandchildren, Anne (Michael) Hermiller of Perrysburg, Suzan (Jim) Pinkelman of Haskins, Ohio, Jennifer (Tim) Lake of Perrysburg, Amy (Corey) Maness of Hickam AFB, Hawaii, Gary (Aelyese) Mauk of Beaverton, Oregon, Rebecca (Tim) Book of Perrysburg and Anneliese (David) Hatlestad of Seattle, Washington; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Zackery, Luke and Abigail Hermiller, Benjamin and Natalie Pinkelman, Leah and Kaitlyn Maness and Raury, Connor and Gable Mauk; sisters, Irene Bodolai, Margit Farkas and Erzi Podraczki, all of Hungary.
Friends and family may visit on Thursday, March 10, 2005, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Kinsey Funeral Home, Birmingham Chapel, 2001 Consaul St., Toledo, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Calvin United Church of Christ, 1946 Bakewell St., Toledo, Ohio. Interment will follow in North Oregon Cemetery. Contributions in Julia's memory can be made to Calvin United Church of Christ.
