June 'œJunebug' Szczerbiak, 67, of Toledo, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, on June 26, 1947 to Norman E. and Vivian (Savory) Leslie. June obtained an Associates Degree in Business from Owens Community College. On July 15, 1972 she married the love of her life and best friend, Joseph A. Szczerbiak, Sr. She worked as church secretary for several years, but June'™s true passion was helping others. She enjoyed volunteering throughout the community, helping with the Board of Elections for the past 10 years, but especially loved tutoring with Read for Literacy. She spent her time gardening, reading, window shopping, traveling and working word search puzzles. June was an avid collector of different knick-knacks including teacups, bells, and Precious Moments. Junebug was a woman of faith, and was an active member of Perrysburg Alliance Church. She cherished spending time with her family, and attending her grandchildrens'™ various activities. June was a selfless woman that lived her life with faith, hope, patience, and grace, and will be missed deeply by all.
Surviving is her husband of 42 years, Joseph; children, Tamara (Charles) Stansley, Rebekah Szczerbiak, Joe (Wendy) Szczerbiak Jr.; grandchildren, Tyler, Taylor, Irene Sauerwein, Aiden and Easton Szczerbiak; and 7 brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Helen Szczerbiak; and father-in-law, Adam Szczerbiak.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd. on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 12 noon until the celebration of life at 3:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Read for Literacy Foundation or Charity of Donor'™s Choice.
