Katharine J. Carr, 106, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Genacross Assisted Living. She was born in Lansing, Michigan on December 11, 1912 to Emil and Emilie (Zumbrunn) Hirzel. On August 30, 1941 she married the love of her life, Russell Carr who preceded her in death. Katharine worked as a Clerk at the Toledo Library as well as Hirzel Bros. Flowers. She was also a book buyer for the Lion Store in the 40's. She was a life member of Memorial United Church of Christ, secretary for the Toledo Swiss Ladies, member of the GAF Society and Toledo Swiss Singers. Katharine loved traveling, but what she cherished most was her family.
Katharine is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (John) Novinsky, Barbara Carr, Kathy Carr; grandsons, Ethan (Jenny) Novinsky, Eric Novinsky, Aaron (Ashley) Novinsky; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Kiera, Skylar; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; and siblings, Eddie (Corinea), Emil (Nellie), Emily Hirzel and Marie (Eugene) Asta.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd, on Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 2:00 pm-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday, February 4, 2019 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Katharine's name may be directed to Memorial United Church of Christ. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Genacross and Hospice for their loving care, especially, Kelly, Kim, Ashley and Traci. They would also like to thank Dr. Bates for his excellent care he provided to their mother.
